Harry Potter Fan Fest attracts costumed children, adults
Saturday afternoon, more than 100 books and movie fans converged on the County Library Gaston Public East Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia for a festival of Harry Potter Fan.
The festival, free and lasting three hours, famous in the magical world of Harry Potter. Adults and children, some in costume, crafts, special snacks and enjoyed winning prizes.

Harry Potter memorabilia including posters, books, wooden sticks and Lego sets were given to people holding a number of luck in the contest prizes.
Folks enjoyed the scrambled word games, word finds, crossword puzzles, crafts bookmarked so, color and paint the face. In a corner of the auditorium of the library, a woman has been reading palms and telling fortunes, an activity that seems very popular among the participants.
"It's really fun. I made a bookmark and I got my fortune," said 11 year old Benjamin Blackwell of Gastonia. His wealth included a forecast of sunny weather.
Blackwell said the drinks were great and his favorite snack was fried chicken. Also available are several types of drinks and chocolate candy.
Most people are fans of these two Harry Potter books and movies. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" opens in theaters July 15.
"I think (the films) are very good and sometimes I want to picture in my head and imagine if I were in that situation," said Blackwell. "I really like Harry Potter, and many people say that I have glasses."
Gaston County Public Library Program Coordinator Carol Reinhardt said the idea for Harry Potter Fan Day was a collectively shared by the library staff.
"One of the interesting things for me is that those who started reading Harry Potter books when the first was released, they were children at the time," she said. "They are adults with their own children now. This generation literally grew up with Harry Potter books and movies.
